Ingredients
- 2 15-ounce cans black-eyed peas
- 6 cups water or low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 garlic clove, chopped ½ teaspoon minced or ¼ teaspoon powder
- 1 large onion minced
- 3 stalks celery chopped
- 2 large carrots diced
- 1 meaty ham bone or ½ pound ham chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Wash hands with warm, soapy water for 20 seconds.
- Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan.
- Heat to boiling. Cover. Turn down heat and simmer 30 minutes.
